On 18 September, Jackie writes:

I would like to thank each and every one who sent cards
and said prayers for Tom during his short illness and his passing.
Knowing I had the love, thoughts & prayers of people I consider
my extended family has helped me through this very difficult time.

Tom is at peace now, reunited with his other favourite girls:
Carrie, our first a'dale; Annie, who was part of The Wild Bunch;
his boys McGregor, our second a'dale & MacIain, Annie's other best pal.
I know they will be waiting at The Rainbow Bridge for me,
and that Tom took a large number of homeless and
unloved pets over The Bridge with him.
He used to always say that if we won the lottery,
he would look after elephants, tigers, gorillas, dogs, horses,
swans, whales, dolphins and any other species that needed protection
from the world's most ferocious predator,
and he wanted to save the rain forests as well.

Hug your family - your two- and four-legged members -
and let them know how much they mean to you.
