COMING IN
OUT OF THE RAIN

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others,
cannot keep it from themselves.

MUTTS

Gayle Kiesow writes:

I cannot think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon, or any afternoon for that matter, than helping furry friends, greeting old friends, meeting new foster families & new volunteers, ready to help the cause. Makes everything right with the world!

The Cracker Barrel parking lot in Bloomington, Illinois brought us all together. I think most of us know the feeling of raising the back of a van and seeing crates of Cairns, looking for the good life.

Holly did all the driving to & from Waynesville, Missouri. Shell came from Geneva, Illinois to pick up her four. Bob & Gayle came from Peoria, Illinois to meet one new foster family and take two more guys towards Peoria. New foster family Lori & Katie Bell & friend from Canton, and new CRUSA volunteer Kitty Pope, came from East Peoria, Illinois. We give Kitty all the credit for finding the Bell family for Sherry so she was not left behind at Dr. Tolliver's. Good job, Kitty!

Lori & Katie Bell meeting Sherry.

It was SO cold & wet we were all freezing,
but we had work to do and
introductions to make.

The Bell's loved Sherry instantly
and who wouldn't; she is incredible.
What a baby doll!

[On Monday morning, Lori wrote:

This morning, Sherry woke up and has been wagging her tail.
She even licked me.
I think she is feeling more comfortable in her new home.]

Sherry was renamed Sherri and adopted into the Bell Family.

Kitty Pope is holding Molly; holding the dog food is the
Bell's friend from Canton, who came along for support.

Having the extra people really helped with getting the kids out of their crates and walked.

April

Holly & Shell, trying to warm up with a good cup of coffee.

Usually there is no time during a transport to enjoy the company of other CRUSA members, but today we took that extra time. This made Shell about 30 minutes late, but it was well-deserved.

And I must say, those of you who have not seen Ms Shell dressed up (she came from a benefit fashion show, put on by her granddaughter's adoption agency) . . . well, you know how cute she is in her jeans & sweatshirts; she was stylin' in dress, coat & heels. She cleans up real good!

After lots of hugs & good wishes, Shell headed north, Holly to the south and Bob & Gayle west to meet up with the rest of the foster families.
