ROSIE

11 APRIL 2010

Tracie Cotton writes:

Rosie is being fostered by Jessica & Jimmie King in Tennessee. Sugar & Sophia are with me. They attacked Rosie the night they stayed with the Kings.

Jessica King writes:

Took Rosie to the vet . . . glad I did. She has mastitis . . . actually has blood coming out of her nipples. In addition, while the shelter thought she was about four years old, the vet thinks she's closer to 8 to 9 years old. She has cataracts and a left knee issue where her knee pops out of joint if she puts pressure on it. He sent her home on an antibiotic and pain meds to help with the infection and knee. The knee may eventually require surgery. He wants to see her again in about two weeks.

On 14 April, Jessica writes:

Rosie is settling in quite well. She's a super smart little girl (only 13 pounds!), who obviously has had some sort of training! She surprised me the other day when I thought I'd try to teach her "sit" and she automatically plopped her rear-end on the floor. She has decided that she prefers to sleep in the bed with the rest of us at night . . . two humans, three dogs & a cat make a king-size bed feel rather tiny!

April

The antibiotic seems to really be helping her mastitis and unless she gets moving too quickly or misses a step, her knee seems to do pretty well. We have to slow her down sometimes so she doesn't pop it out of place. I've been giving her glucosamine & chondroitin . . . hopefully it'll make a difference down the road. She uses the lead on the deck to get around the yard pretty easily.

April

Jimmy has already asked what the possibility of us being her permanent home may be. She fits into our family perfectly and has become quite a momma's girl! Even after just a week with her, it's hard to imagine our house without her. She really is a joy!
