TUESDAY, 11 JUNE

Saw a pod of bottlenose dolphins on the surface, swimming near the boat;
when we entered the water, saw them make a pass by us about 20 feet away -
not close enough to get a decent picture because gray against deep blue is invisible.
[I also saw a] huge southern Atlantic stingray, a small yellow stingray,
and four reef squid. I tried using my left hand as a semaphore
because squid are chromagenic communicators. So I showed my palm,
then the back of my hand, my palm, then the back of my hand,
open fingers and close together; one moved in closer to see what was going on
(I had no idea what I might be saying).
More sea slugs and the usual Caribbean reef citizens.

Bottlenose dolphins - contrast & light fall off in water exponentially with depth and/or distance.
I only took the shot as proof, knowing it would turn out terrible.

Beautiful tube sponge group - the purple was much more vibrant in reality

I also used just the GoPro for video in the afternoon;
I haven't looked at the footage yet,
but I think that I got some really interesting shots.

We're going to CUBA COMPAGNIE for dinner tonight;
we are leaving about 6 for a 6:30 reservation,
so it must be on the other side of town.
