The shelter is bringing Chrissie to Madison. Luckily for Chrissie, Shell has to be in Madison on Monday, and can then meet Andréa, who will foster her, in Beloit.
Shell writes:
She's coming in Monday; she's pretty much fully vetted . . . may need a bordatella but you can handle that once she's in. Very friendly, very adoptable.
Here's what I was told about Chrissie:
Beth, the animal control person I've been dealing with, told me that she got a call about some animals in squalid living conditions in a trailer. Specifically, there was a chicken that needed help. I didn't know that chickens were so needy, but whatever.
She went out to the trailer and there was no chicken, but there was a dog outside and inside was Chrissie. Beth said the filth and stench inside the trailer were unbelievable. No indication that she was being bred. This was a case of a pet with an owner who most likely had "issues".
Chrissie was born on 4 April 1999. The last time Chrissie was at a vet was in 2002. At that time - SEVEN years ago - her eye was extremely infected and the vet said it had to come out. But the owner never returned to have it done.
This past week, it was finally removed. Beth said Chrissie was so filthy, it took three hours to clean her up. So we might want to wait a bit and let her settle in before putting her through another groom although Beth reports she is very friendly.
Patti adds:
My daughter spent 20 minutes with Chrissie and all she wanted was pets & love. Chrissie is a petite little love bug. She wasn't scared with all the barking & commotion going on around her. I think Jeni is going to try to see her again over the weekend and fill her in on her new adventure. What a lucky girl she is. Can't wait to see her updates.
A SPECIAL CRUSA THANK YOU TO JENI & PATTI, FOR CARING ENOUGH TO ALERT US TO THIS LITTLE GIRL!;
