"Although we may no longer see him, he will always remain in our hearts"

Don't grieve for me, for now I am free
I'm following paths God made for me
I took his hand, I heard him call . . .
Then turned, and bid farewell to all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace . . . at close of day.

And if my parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened . . . deep with sorrow,
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full . . . I've savoured much.
Good friends, good times . . . a loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wants me now . . . He set me free!

"This is me and my Skye guy Steeler winning our Specialty for a big five-point Major. Steeler finished his Championship the next day at the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills with a four-point Major. To explain these wins . . . points are based from one to five, five being the most points a dog can earn at a given show. This is based on the amount of dogs in competition in our area, which is determined by the AKC. A dog needs 15 points to become a Champion which has to include at least two Major wins of three points or more. Steeler finished with five Majors . . . 3-3-3-5-4, so he actually earned more than needed to be a Champion. This is a excellent record for any show dog. Just thought I would explain how the point system worked in case you didn't know and I showed him myself to his wins."

On 20 February 2000, Marilyn writes: "Here is a picture of my sweetie Daisy the day she completed her Championship. After months of hard work with conditioning her coat and furnishings and some road work to build up her muscle she really shaped up pretty good."

And on 9 April 2004, Marilyn writes:

It's with great sadness that I must say I lost my Daisy yesterday. Daisy was suffering from kidney failure and I did everything possible to save her, but yesterday she began to have problems walking and completely quite eating. My grooming room looked like a room in your local hospital with her fluid bags hung from the wall and all her syringes for meds and forced feeding.

I was lucky as my vet Dr. Dana Bleifer taught me how to care for Daisy and give her fluids to keep her comfortable until her time came.

Daisy was the best show dog I think I ever bred. She is CH Top Brass Drive N Miss Daisy. She loved going to the dog shows. you never had to touch her . . . she knew what to do and did it well.

Those of you who have had the pleasure to meet her when you were here know what a beauty she was, inside and outside.

I rescued her two times from the clutches of unresponsible owners that didn't take care of her. I feel she was one of my treasures that I was given a chance to spend a few more years with. She is survived by one son and one daughter, Ms. DeeDee and became the proud grannie of two girls and one boy on March 11 in Maryland.

I loved my Daisy more than words can say.

My name is MacDunald, and I'm as braw a Scot as ever chewed up a pair of slippers. I'm stubborn and I'm canny, I'm short-legged and close to the ground; what I lack in size I make up in courage. The Scotch are a fighting race and the tartan of my clan has never dragged the dust, my breed has never known defeat and we die game, do we Scots. My hair is coarse and wiry and my tail is carried high. I want to tell you these facts so you won't think me a sissy even if I do live a soft life in a fashionable neighborhood. -- John Held, MacDunald
