THE FROSTY PAWS EXPRESS
12-13 JANUARY 2007

Gr Gr Gr Gr Gr Gr

On 9 January, Shell Lewis, Regional Director - Foster Homes, Midwest Placement for Cairn Rescue USA, writes:

Well, in 2006 we had The Missouri 3, The Missouri 5, The Missouri 6, The Missouri 7 and The Missouri 9. We had The Florida 2 and The Scotland 2. We had The Senior Squad and The Magnificent 7. I'm running out of cutesy names. So I'm calling our first Missouri transport of 2007 The Frosty Paws Express.

(By the way . . . in 2006, we transported 52 mill dogs from Dr. Tolliver's! That's a lot of miles for Scott & Greg and a lot of fostering for all of you. What's more . . . of those 52 dogs, there are only three who are not yet adopted. Pretty nice stats!)

This Sunday morning, Scott & Greg will be picking up six more dogs from Dr. Tolliver. These include four retired mill girls and two youngsters; one an owner-surrender and the other a pup released from a breeder. Following is a list of the dogs and who is going where.

Darby (male pup born in September) - Kim & Laurinda
Sasha (five-month-old female) - Hannah
Kaitlin (born December 2001; 20 pounds) - still needs a foster home
Keena (born December 2004; 15 pounds.) - Shelley & Paul
Megan (born December 2004; 12.5 pounds.) - Shelley & Paul
Muriel (born December 2003; 13.5 pounds.) - Leah

I'd like to welcome first-time foster mom, Leah, who is a special education teacher in St. Louis. Leah owns a Cairn, a puggle & two cats. Leah . . . we're so pleased to have you on our foster team!

All dogs - youngsters included - have been spayed or neutered and with the exception of Darby, have received all boosters & inoculations. Darby still has a couple of rounds of boosters to go.

Papillon Rescue is asking if we can transport two paps back to the Chicago area. If there's room in your van, I'd love to help them out and of course, they would have to meet us at the Hinsdale Oasis as well.

Later that same day:

There is one BIG change . . . and it's a great one. Another new foster home, Sarah, is joining us!!! Sarah was cross-posted a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for someone to do a home visit in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She drove all the way from Northbrook to Crystal Lake and I was most appreciative. And now . . . she's fostering for us!

Sarah is an experienced foster parent and I'm thrilled that she's taking on one of our mill girls, Kaitlin.

Welcome Sarah!!!!!

On 10 January comes the WeatherWord:

Very unsettling weather report for Sunday - snow & ice. Scott & Greg would be able to leave Friday and return on Saturday.
Same agenda . . . just a day early.
