Despite the travails of their mating, they produced an egg.
We were able to watch the owls (I assume each of them,
at one time or another) sitting on the egg.
We saw the parents bring in food and the chick being fed.

This is NOT a rabbit digging its way into the ground.
Quite often, parts of the owls' prey
was dropped over the edge of the nest.
The dog that lived in the yard thought
manna was dropping from heaven.
(The yellow area is the result of my jumping
into a chlorinated swimming pool
a roll of undeveloped film
still in my shorts pocket.
I was lucky not to have lost
any of the pictures when the roll was developed!)
