Let me introduce you to my new foster, Woody!
Here is what Woody looked like when we got him home.

I really wanted to call him "Marley" because of the dreads . . .
but with that book & movie, I can't bring myself to do it.

Ph

These dreads are held together with excrement, and he STINKS.
Just ask Joe (Radosavich); he'll attest to that.

So, after we took these photos, we cut all of the dreads off
and then gave him a general trimming before
dumping him in the bath tub and washing him
with multiple kinds of shampoo.
Now he smells like green apples & poop.

Ph

But he looks a whole lot better!

When he was dry, Rylee helped brush him and got the end of the dead, matted hair out of him. He still stinks a bit, but looks really good.

His weight is low. I feel his hips & spine & ribs . . . but his demeanor is wonderful. He is very sweet and just a bit shy. He is generally very loving and has already bonded with me. He wants to be as close to me as possible.

I am guessing him to be a 1-2-year-old intact male. He has been vomiting the high-quality food, so I have switched to just brown rice with chicken gizzards & wheat grass with a probiotic in it to help his intestines adjust. It will take a few days.

I will get him in for vetting as soon as possible since he already can climb out of the x-pen. I won't be able to keep him separate from mine at all.

He is a super dog and I hope he finds a great home soon. He is very dark and so sweet. He is a mill dog (doesn't know how to walk on a leash, marks like crazy), but he is doing super well (has figured out the dog door, can climb stairs, isn't terrified of everything), so I feel like he will be ready for his forever home in no time at all!

The most important medical issue with Woody is a left rear luxated patella. His leg "hitches" up frequently when he is running around, but it doesn't seem to cause him any pain so I would guess it would be diagnosed as a Grade 3 (if I had to guess):
