Herb & I
picked up
Hannah on
21 August.
She came into
our home
and met all
the dogs
without
any issues.

Looks like she is not too sure of grass,
as she lifts her back legs high off the grass
so as not to get them wet or something.
If I remember correctly,
the pictures of her taken in the owner's backyard had no grass
and she was tied up on a long wire cord.
If I stand on the deck she stands right next to me and does not go off too far.
She will watch the other dogs play ball and chase,
but is not sure what to do. She will start running with the pack
when they chase Logan, but comes right back to the deck.

She is a little hand-shy,
so you have to give her your hand first before petting her on top of her head.
Otherwise, she will let you pet her anywhere else.
I was told that the father in the house did not care for Hannah
and was somewhat abusive with her when giving her a bath,
when they did, and hooking her up in the back yard.

Hannah was fed Beneful dog food
from the time they purchased her from a pet store,
so that would be seven years.
I changed her food to dry sweet potato and fish,
canned to put her meds in and treats.
She has not missed a meal as she does like to eat,
but I feed her away from my dogs. She does not eat fast,
but normalspeed for a Cairn - if there is a normalspeed.

Hannah likes being with people as she wants to be near you
when she is not curled up on a dog bed sleeping.
Hannah is 100% HOUSEBROKEN.
Can you believe that, a housebroken Cairn!

I gave her a medicated bath on 27 August just to help her with the scratching.
The water was so dirty for a dog who has hardly any hair.
I put the shampoo on for only five minutes instead of the 7-10 minutes;
did not want her to get upset. She seemed to like it.
Took off her old dirty collar and put on a new red one
that Herb got from the store and he also made for her a rabies tag
and ID tag with her and our name on it.

I took Hannah to my vet, Dr. Cunningham on 29 August for a Wellness exam.
The owners got her a rabies, distemper and HW test. I got her bordatella
and I had a fecal done, as I wanted to know if she had Giardia,
which she did not and a urinalysis to see if maybe she might have an UTI.
Both came back negative.

Dr. Cunningham gave me Hydroxyzine for her scratching.
She scratches a lot and she starts to cry, but no open sores, thankfully.
Dr. Cunningham cleaned her ears and put meds in them,
as they are also infected. He wants to wait on her spaying
until Dr. Hansen can get her skin condition under some kind of control.
She is just coming out of season and her tits are very swollen;
you'd think she'd had a littler of puppies.
When Hannah gets spayed I will also have her microchipped.
So, I have about six months
to get her skin in good condition before the next cycle.

Hannah goes to Dr. Hansen, the dermatologist,
on 9 September, as that is the earliest he can see her.
Dr. Cunningham told me not to give her any more baths
so Dr. H can get a good skin scraping.

Her vet bill was $152.00.
I will send another post after her vet visit with Dr. Hansen.

Thank you everyone who has donated to Hannah's cause.
