BIKING THRU CHICAGO . . .

Libby & Garry are keen cyclists and kindly borrowed a bike for me to ride.

Negotiating Chicago's streets

I'm keen, too, but prefer to bike in places like Germany where cyclists
take precedence over all other transport modes. It's a great feeling,
having a bus stop for your bike!

Biking along the Lake [Michigan] Shore
[IF they had continued north on this bike path,
they'd have ended up very close to my house.
VERY tired, as it's over 60 miles.
They then could've taken the train home. --ad]

Anyway, thanks to my hosts' expert knowledge of the streets of Chicago,
we made it safely to the long bike route along Lake Michigan's edge.
We stopped for lunch at the Boat House and then cycled on
to The Chicago History Museum - well worth the visit.
Well worth two visits actually; there's a lot to see.

On 10 June, the Chicago Black Hawks won
THE major ice hockey game in North America
(no, I don't know - a pennant, a cup, a world league . . .
you're talking to a sports moron here). Anyway,
on 11 June, there was a huge parade for them in
downtown Chicago and even the lions outside
the Art Institute got into the act . . .
