Kathy Lauer of Terrier-L, who is involved with WFT Rescue, writes:

Be sure to tell them [Scott & Greg] we (Midwest FTR) said THANKS! We were anxiously awaiting their arrivals. We had seven wires, but two stayed to foster in Ohio. And yes - he's a Toy Fox. All bloodwork is coming back good on them; the Toy Fox is already neutered and had a dental and quite a few teeth pulled, but he's doing great.

They're all in Iowa now - I am planning on going to see them and help groom them up this weekend.

This is Big Boy.
He is so handsome!

If only we didn't have to do this - but until there are no more puppy mills . . .

Here is what I know so far from talking to Cheryl:

The wires were all bathed in Chicago, given new collars and tags and in true wire fashion, were coming out of their shells almost immediately. There is one female that is really shy - all the others are bouncy and happy and seem to know that they're on their way to a better life.

Paige & Olivia

On Monday, they were brought to Davenport, Iowa, where Cheryl Collins (rescuer extraordinaire, whose true passion is mill dogs!) picked them up. They've all been staying at the vet for now till they all get all health issues checked and taken care of, and being neutered & spayed.

There are two boys now fostering in Ohio, and four girls & a boy in Iowa (plus the toy fox). And yes, the toy fox sat on Cheryl's granddaughter's lap the whole way home from Davenport (about four hours) giving her kisses! I have a hunch he may already have found his own home . . . ! Tara (granddaughter) LOVES him!

This is the shy girl - all she needs is love

We're actually thrilled with the condition of the dogs - the last mill dogs we got were missing limbs and in truly horrible condition. At least the auction dogs had most of their hair and mats cut off and had all their limbs, faces, and ears. Unlike the last crew . . . which you can read about HERE

Thanks for the updates, Kathy . . . it is always great to hear "the rest of the story"!

And from Maribeth Knierim comes this letter of thanks on Tuesday, 6 June:

Here is a picture of one of the cuties - I called her Olivia. She was a pistol and loved to give kisses.

Wanted to send a personal THANK YOU from me and all the wire fox terriers that were saved from the Amish Puppy Mill Fleamarket this past weekend.

They all received a shower, a comfy new bed, pretty new collars & toys when they got to my house Sunday. They were all transported safely to Iowa yesterday. Again - a big thank you for your help on this rescue that means so much to me and these dogs.
