First meeting . . . love at first sight

Shannon Radosevich writes:

Finneganıs writeup on CRUSA stated he was ready to begin again, and as of today he has indeed begun his new life.

Sharon & Ron Edwin have been "kind of" looking for a new dog since their Cairn, Scruffy, died last year. Scruffy was also a rescue dog whom they adopted when he was five years old. After seeing Finnegan on the CRUSA website, they felt they were ready to begin again, too. Up went his picture from the website onto their refrigerator and then the waiting began: "Would we get him or not?" And it was so sweet how much they wanted him!

Finn's sister Jenna lives right down the block with her dog Claude, which she adopted from the Humane Society. The two of them met today; Sharon emailed me that it went great. They all went for a walk so they could introduce Finn & Claude; they all moved into his great new fenced yard . . . let the playing begin!! Of course Finn loved going for Claudeıs ears, and Claude was very good about it. They chased each other round & round, rolled on the ground together; think a friendship is brewing?

AHHHHH . . . home at last!

Joe & I took Finnegan over to the Edwins' house this morning to meet them . . . and it was love at first sight. The look on their faces when they saw him was what every foster parent dreams of!!

Claude, Finnegan's "uncle" . . . first meeting.

This is what makes his climbing up to relax on my kitchen table, stealing stuff from the wastebaskets, hogging the whole bed at night, worth every second . . . and we love it!! And according to Sharon there won't be much he isn't allowed to do so long as it's safe for him!! Letıs check back in a week or two and see how REALLY loved (spoiled) he is! Isn't it great?

This is Jenna & Claude, Sharon & Finn dogs meeting for first time!

The Edwins are REALLY great people and Finnegan is one lucky little guy to have them for his forever home . . . I wish they could all be so wonderful. And yes, we will miss him, until we get our visitation rights from Sharon.

Finnegan in his new home!!

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hides Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
