A SCOTTISH SUNSET
END OF DAY 4
29 NOVEMBER 2025

BUZZARD

I was thinking today while on my walk:
I've swapped pigeons & seagulls
for rooks & eagles, or at least hawks & buzzards.
I could hear the scree call, but couldn't see it.
(Scree is what we call the call of a buzzard or an eagle;
I used to have them in my back garden at Eastwood End,
so I recognise the call. Perhaps it's a Scottish word;
I've never known it as anything different.)
And tonight I heard a cow mooing.

MARE MOORE ASKS: ARE YOU ALLOWED
NEXT SPRING TO PLANT A SMALL TREE
FOR SOME SHADE?

We are not allowed to plant trees, although some of the older properties
have some trees and there is one or two around the parking area.
I think it's fire risk.

JACKIE

We can have trees if they are in pots.
I brought my favourite Japanese maple
with me as it will stay in the pot.

I don't think shade will be an issue up here.
You don't ask, "When is summer?"
You ask, "What day is summer?"

That was part of my reason for moving;
I can put a jumper on and walk the dogs in summer,
rather than sitting baking and unable to go out
because it's too hot.
