I have a planned date for the move to Scotland; 29 October.
The removal men will arrive on that day, load up the van and head north.
About 9 p.m., we will lock up and leave our English homes for the last time
It should take us about nine hours or perhaps a bit longer
as we do not want to arrive before 9 a.m.;
we can't get the keys to our Scottish homes till 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.
Our furniture should arrive about midday.
It's all getting a bit real now.
I have a house viewing this p.m.;
hopefully they will love my house and buy it.
That will lift a bit of the stress about the move.
I've gone through all the emotions several times
since I made the decision in April. Happy, excited, nervous,
doubting my decision to head north and everything in between.
I still come back to believing it is the right move for me at this point in my life.
There is nothing to keep me here.
I have no social life unless I go round to Mike's or they come here.
At my new home there are several groups I can join
and the opportunity to work with a lady who does a lot for horse rescue.
She will be a near neighbour and asked me if I would be interested
in helping with some admin. I said yes but let me find my feet first.
I've been packing stuff for a couple of months now.
On 1 October, the dog rescue charity shop will collect
my three-piece leather suite, TV and stand and
a few other bits of furniture to sell in their shop.
I will be sitting on a camping chair for four weeks.
Hopefully, my computer desk and chair will go to its new home soon;
then all that will be left is the furniture I'm taking with me.
I'm taking my dining room table and chairs,
so I will still have access to my computer;
it will go in my car with me for the journey north.
28 September:
I'm starting my countdown.
I told the dentist and the vet, and canceled appointments with them.
[I] onsolidated some of my bank accounts, closing the local ones.
I like a local bank so I can walk in and sort issues out.
I will open a Scottish bank account when I get there.
I still have to notify the doctor but I'll do that nearer the time.
I can't notify the utilities till the house is sold
because I have to have the heat on frost control while it is unoccupied.
The council tax people have been notified; on the week I move out,
I can cancel the house insurance; they only cover me for 90 days,
so the Park home owners will insure the house while it's unoccupied.
I will do a post forwarding nearer the time as well.
I've really just got to get [to] packing boxes over the next couple of weeks.
