LIZARDS AND MANATEES
AND DOLPHINS, OH MY!

2 & 3 SEPTEMBER 2015

On 28 August, I had written to those following my Florida adventures:

Haven't seen any lizards in the house for almost a week.
Am letting my guard down.

Was at dinner at FlapJack's today.
As I prepared to leave and picked up my purse,
Howie (part owner and maitre d') said to me,
"Why is there a lizard jumping out of your purse?"

????????????????????????

Sure 'nuff, a little baby lizard took off for the table next to me;
Howie and I try to catch it. THOSE four folks ask me,
"WHY DO YOU HAVE A LIZARD IN YOUR PURSE?"

"Damned if I know; just be glad it wasn't a Palmetto Bug!" I reply.
Chantal the Waitress (yes, that's her name and believe me,
she LOOKS like a 'Chantal') caught the little thing and put it outside.

On my way out, I ordered and paid for dessert for the table next to me;
it was the least I could do.

Never a dull moment . . .

So on 2 September,
Jackie writes:

Here's a lizard
I would not want in my hand bag . . .

3 SEPTEMBER:

McGUINNESS/PARKER

Here is R with his latest girlfriend

Had a great day: catarmaran trip to an island,
then a swim with two young female dolphins,
holding on to their dorsal fins.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

Jackie with her new best pal

The power was amazing;
then you swam out and they pushed you by your feet.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

Fifty feet in a nano second; the strength in the fin was amazing

Next we swam with and fed lettuce to manatees;
they were cute in an ugly sort of way.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

So strong it lifted me out of the water

Next we swam with some baby sharks and manta rays; this was ok,
but I've swum with the big guys off Teneriffe with
eight-foot wingspans. Now, THAT was awesome.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

He's chatting up the girls again

After lunch, we zip-wired down a cliff in three stages, all a bit scary.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

You can't see them, but there are two dolphins pushing me through the water by my feet

Then we snorkeled over the reef, did a bit of kayaking,
had a pint and sailed home.

McGUINNESS/PARKER

Yes, they really were behind me

It was a very busy day, but well worth it.
