CRUISIN' THE MED
WITH JACKIE & TOM

6-21 JUNE 2008

THE PLAN . . .

On 7 November 2007, Jackie writes:

Tom has booked a cruise 'round the Mediterranean on the M.V. ARCADIA, one of the bigger cruise ships of the P&O Line. We don't go 'till June next year, but it's our 25th wedding anniversary this year so he thought this would be a special trip.

I'm fortunate not to suffer from sea sickness but Tom really suffers so much that sitting in a pub looking out to sea could make him ill if there was a bit of a swell, but the ship was great - you hardly felt it move. Did I mention it was 55 metres from sea line to top and eight metres from sea line to bottom and weighed 83,000 tonnes . . . it just sliced through the sea like a hot knife through butter.

We have a good cabin with a balcony, but he wanted it to be more special and have a suite. Unfortunately, they were all booked but they have put us on the waiting list for one, or second choice of a mini suite.

With a suite, we would get a butler; I wouldn't know what to do with one. I would have to call him Jeeves, no matter what his name is.

. . . THE ITINERARY . . .

We will visit Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Pisa, Alicante & Gibraltar, then back to Southampton, and best of all - it's a child-free cruise yippee!! I'll be able to go in the pool without some five-year-old old drowning me. This will be my first real holiday in FIVE years. I will miss the furkids though.

McGuinness

If Tom enjoys it, he's thinking of booking a
round trip to New York on the QUEEN MARY 2;
it's six days sailing each way and one day in
New York, but it would still be nice.

(Anyone up for an AiredaleFest in NYC?! --ad)
