BJ Isaacs writes:

I'm probably getting getting this mom and pups tomarrow.
I will probably take them to the vet39;&#s office immediately.
I am assuming they will need to spend some time at the clinic
to be checked out. It will have to be at the 24-hour clinic
since my vet doesn't have anyone there all night.
One pup has died, probably due to where they were.

They were under someone's porch. Wet/muddy.
Thank goodness it's been warm here or they all might have died.

The next day, BJ writes:

Mom and eight pups are in.
LONG DAY!
Stuck in traffic for
over two hours before
being able to turn around
due to an accident.

Mom, is a sweetheart,
very friendly, sweet, let us
(my friend Ellen went with me)
handle them. She is now lying
at my feet as I type this.

Doc Godman checked her over; HW test negative and no worms.
We went ahead and dewormed her anyway.
Pups are probably about a week old, eyes aren't open yet.
She has eaten and drunk;, she weighed 24 pounds.
Doc said overall for the muddy and wet mess she came from,
she could stand to gain a pound!

He said she's a lucky girl!

Oh, we have five males and three females.
Which leads us to . . .

All the dogs have been named.
Thank you do all who bought
naming rights and/or donated.

OCTOMOM: VITA; NAMED BY: DONNA MARIE KOEGLER
Vita means LIFE . . . and I thought naming this Mom after my Mother would honor both of them.
This little Mom is a survivor and her determination allowed eight more fur babies to live.
Here is to her LIFE and theirs.

PUP # 1 (F): MOLLY; NAMED BY: SHELLEY SIMINSKI

PUP # 2 (F): GYPSY; NAMED BY: MARILYN ROYLE
Gypsy was my precious girl who left me too soon;
she had been a great mom to her pups, and a gorgeous pup herself.
She was funny, stubborn, but most of all, she loved me more than anything.
She was my loyal girl and she will always be in my heart.

PUP # 3 (F): HOPE; NAMED BY: THE JERSEY BOYS

PUP # 4 (M): TEDDY; NAMED BY: TONI BONNEY
after our sweet Teddy we lost.

PUP # 5 (M): JETER; NAMED BY: SHELLEY SIMINSKI

PUP # 6 (M): JINGLES; NAMED BY: ELAINE ALGER

PUP # 7 (M): ALVIN; NAMED BY: THE OURS PACK

PUP # 8 (M): NESTOR; NAMED BY: ELIZABETH BUENNING
Named after our first Cairn, Nessie.
We fell in love with them after we had her for almost 14 years.
Then we contacted CRUSA to rescue our dear Jazzie.

PUP WHO CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE: STAR;
NAMED BY: JACKIE McGUINNESS
I didn't know if the pup was girl or boy, but I'm sure its star would shine brightly
because the love was out there to save the mum and her pups. I'd just read a book
about a little dog in WWII and how it was found covered in mud in a ditch and it made me think
of the the little pup who was a fallen star
