Got Bear into the house, crate and all. I closed the baby gate to the kitchen and let the other critters out to see the new addition.

Well, Andy [the Airedale] proceeds to jump the baby gate, which he has never done before, and crawl halfway into Bear's crate to say 'HI!' I grabbed him by the collar and yanked him out of there. Poor Bear probably thought that this was the end of the line.

I put everydog back in their crates except Matt, who couldn't care less about another dog so long as he gets his time in my lap.

I took Bear outside and had him on the front lawn. He starts sniffing around and I hear this snap. I knew immediately what that noise was. The cheap clasp on the leash had come undone. I dove for Bear's harness and he thought he was being attacked. After I got him hooked back up I brought him back in the house and set him in my lap.

I started rubbing his neck and giving him scratches. Lo and behold he licked my hand. I continued this for a while and Bear started to relax.

I let Andy out of his crate and after a bit of snapping on Bear's part, guess who is playing with whom? Yup, Andy & Bear are having a good time. Bear's tail is no longer between his legs and it's wagging!

Well that's two down, three to go.

Bear is now playing with just about everyone. It took what? Four hours?! He seems to be fitting in very nicely. Gonna have to work on the housebreaking though.

Kayleigh comes when I call her from the yard; it is a miracle for any terrier to even acknowledge you when they are busy in the yard, and she comes running in. She is also coming up to me to scratch behind her ears. Her tail is wagging like crazy. I'm so happy to see this.

Just got a call from Carol. Up all night with Hannah, pushing IV fluids for dehydration and has tubed her for feeding rather than a bottle. Today she is doing better. Carol is a pro when it comes to this type of thing. Those of us who transported and had this little girl come into our lives are alarmed and want to FIX her, but we know in our hearts she is where she needs to be. Carol will continue to check in with me.

Bottle baby doing better today. Fluids were pushed by IV through the night, taking ?? by feeding tube. Urine had gone from yellow here Saturday night to more orange Sunday and she had diarrhea there. Soft stool here Saturday night. Carol said she does not understand why she was dehydrated from what I told her she took formula while with us Saturday & Sunday traveling, but indicated the stiffness of her body and the arching was better today with fluids.

Ty & remaining pups doing very well. Mom came through all the moving around like a trooper, very content to be sharing a room with her pups and still stepping away when done feeding but being attentive. Seems her milk supply may be a little low to be feeding the five, but they look great.

Bruce is a bully . . . he has absolutely no manners . . . he is food & toy possesive; you can't touch him when he's chewing his food; he has been in & started fights with the other dogs; he has non-stop energy. But other than that, he is perfect!!

(Gotta love this woman!!)

Guess who jumped into my lap just now? Surprised the heck out of me. He also has started to bark a little and make other "cute" little noises. He's been playing with most of the other dogs. Matt has always been a curmudgeon. Bear is really coming around.

On 6 November, comes the good news from Gayle:

For those of you hoping & praying our Hannah would make it, SHE HAS. I talked with Carol this afternoon and Hannah has gained one to two ounces, after two days of under-the-skin hydrating & glucose tube feeding and is looking good. Her eyes are open and she is taking baby food & yogurt from Carol's finger.

I am not sure if I had shared with all of you that Carol was also concerned about the amount of milk Tye was producing . . . not enough for the pups. After working on an accellerated feeding routine, her milk production is where it needs to be, she is full of milk and the pups are feeding very well. They have been offered baby food, but so far are just walking through it. Guess they have not yet figured out it does not absorb through their feet.

Good job, Carol!
