HUEY (f/k/a ODIE) IS AN
OFFICIAL CRUSA DOG

7 MAY 2008

He's coming tomorrow at noon and I am so excited. I feel like I'm getting a new dog of my own. He went to the vet today to get his final vetting before his trip and was much better with the vet than he has been in the past . . . though I imagine he was in some real pain in the past.

And finally . . .

The family that found Odie and reported him to animal control drove him to my home today. His new name Huey, which means 'bright in mind and spirit', definitely seems to fit. He's a little overwhelmed by Ben, Wrigley & KoKo, but there hasn't been any bickering between them. I tried putting him in the x-pen to give him a break and help him relax but that seemed to upset him more. Right now, he's exploring and getting to know the house.

Odie

The family that brought him to me obviously means a great deal to him because he keeps looking by the front door, which is breaking my heart. It is amazing to me how resilient these dogs are, he is very friendly and loving and didn't hesitate to jump right up in my lap.

Odie

Huey is thought to be about 20 months old, and has tested negative for heartworm. The little Houdini just showed up and had his belly band off; I've scoured the house and can't find it. Hmmmm . . . wonder where he hid it.
