PENNY/MOLLY
BARRETT

Ph

Penny on the left, old Jenny, the ADT we rescued in March on the right, & Boomer is sort of behind them with his head turned a bit.

Dave writes: "Penny was rescued from an animal shelter in Montana. A young Minnesotan who was attending college in Montana brought Penny home with her. It quickly became apparent that the student could not keep Penny. She got in touch with Becky and brought the dog here. It was a couple days afterward that the unpleasantness with Toto occurred. She is really a nice dog, despite the event with Toto. She needs to be in a home as an only dog with people who will give her much attention.

Penny

"News about Penny - A very nice couple stopped by the farm this evening to see Penny with thoughts of adopting her. This couple lost their beloved Airedale some five or six months ago and have now come to the point where they can consider another dog entering their home. Penny and the gang were on their best behavior (for Airedales) in order to make a good impression. After an hour and a half of being pestered by the dogs (and loving it) the couple reluctantly left and said that they will get back to us with their decision about adopting Penny. Ph

"Penny has just had a b*th in preparation to go to her new home. By 5:00 pm today, Penny should be with her new owners. Becky will drop Molly off and leave a few last-minute instructions.

"Molly was adopted by Wanda & Richard who live in St. Paul. Richard is retired so he can spend time with Molly during the day. Wanda is still working but she takes Molly to obedience school."

On 3 September 1999 Dave writes: "Well, Molly has been back to the farm for a visit. Actually, she has been back twice. Her new owners left her here for a few days while they had to travel out of town. Molly is allowed in the yard with the boys, but none of the little dogs. She stays in a kennel in the barn at night and when the small dogs are outside. Becky lets Molly listen to classical music while in her kennel and leaves a night light on overnight.

"Molly is very large and strong. She plays very well with the boys. She is not particularly dominant with them. She responds quite differently when she sees a little dog and we go to some lengths to be sure that she is locked in her kennel run whe the small ones go outside.

"You mentioned that some folks had been curious about Molly. She is doing very well and her new owners enjoy her very much. She has been to doggie obedience school but she is still an Airedale (if you catch my meaning). So, despite the difficulties we had here, Molly's rescue is a success. Her new family is providing Molly a good home with lots of love and attention.

"Molly loves to play with Boomer and she likes tennis balls. Boomer thinks Molly is just swell and he enjoys running around the farm with her. Molly will be going back home with her folks Sunday evening."
