On 16 October, Foster Mom Lisa Simon writes:

I'll have more of an update when we get back from the vet this morning at 11:00. Should be an interesting appointment.

In the meantime I can tell you that Goldie continues to try to use her back right leg more & more. My grandmother has been here since Thursday and she's certain Goldie seems more alert & involved in just that time. Goldie is very affectionate and will do just about anything to be petted and gently scratched. She's even "mostly" rolling onto her back for belly rubs now.

Gold has finished with her three-day treatment for worms. She did have a nasty case of tapeworms. We should have the four-wheel cart by Wednesday. First dental appointment tomorrow.

Note how relaxed & happy Goldie is, enjoying the nice October day.

Later in the afternoon, Lisa reports:

Goldie had her first acupunction session this afternoon with Dr. Craig Ansbaugh at the Boulder Veterinary Hospital.

Ph

The room where Craig does his acupuncture is set up to be calming.

After checking Goldie's legs thoroughly, Dr. Ansbaugh is very optimistic about her future. He has extreme confidence that in time, Goldie will regain use of her back right leg. He is also confident that in time she will have at least some use of her back left leg.

Ph

He has a super comfy bed, dim lighting, a small water fountain,
and a calming CD playing "nature" sounds.

He spent quite a bit of time with me showing me where & how to massage her to stimulate her nerves. For her first session he used about 12 needles and used "dry-needling", meaning there was no electrical stimulus. When she goes in next week for her second session, he will use electro-acupuncture.
