Herschel is still at the vet clinic;
he has now had four surgeries and may need another.
Report from Sherry:
One of the problems, as you can see in the pictures,
is that Herschel has grown a lot!!!
The vets still feel that he can walk with all fours when
walking or running, and not do the 'bunny hop'.
He apparently isn't in the kind of pain he used to be in.
They are still working on his worst hip.
He can walk correctly only when walking slowly!
The dog pool is doing wonders for him;
he dislikes the water treadmill,
but loves the water with exercise.
Dr. Simon (Dr. McKee's partner) is so in love with Herschel.
She has never owned an Airedale, and is so impressed
with his behavior, intellect & love.
She takes him home on the weekends she is not on call.
She takes him home through the week when she can.
She loves how he travels in the car, so she takes him
to visit her family in Albuquerque when she can.
Otherwise, Herschel has his own life at the vet hospital.
He has his own yard, spends time every day with a keeper for walks,
therapy & play and spends time in the grooming department
(you can see that he has had a grooming).
In the afternoons, he spends time in the doggy day care
department playing with other dogs.
The clinic has done two extra surgeries so far, "on the house".
They take care of him and won't release him because he still needs them.
What kind of dedicated vet business would do this???
Every time I call to check on the boy,
they take as long as I desire to talk with me.
