Ms Blue: Anyone want to give me a home?

Ms Green: What about me?

Counting to 5

I'm learning to count to 5 very well:
Feed puppies 1,2,3 4, 5 - everybody is at the dishes.
Put puppies back in stall 1,2,3,4,5 - all in.
This morning, after playtime, it was 1, 2 . . . .
Look all over - still 1,2. Check every stall Ð still 1,2.
Yikes, did they escape when Mattie knocked down
the gate across the barn door? Look outside - nope, still 1,2.

Ph

I grabbed a flashlight and looked in the straw bale puppy cave.
Whew! 1,2,3,4,5! The other three had tired and gone to bed.

One day they dragged the extra bed out into the aisle
and several fell asleep on it. Just like children who
don't want to go to their bedrooms and miss anything.
Unfortunately, it was one of the few times I didn't have my camera with me.

Ph

Resting after a tug-of-war game with my sisters.

It is getting more difficult to get in & out
of the stall without puppies escaping. On day two,
one of them escaped when the donkeys were in the barn.
One pup started gnawing on one of the donkey's legs.
Yikes! But the donkey was very kind and just stood there.
Donkeys don't like dogs as a general rule
(many people use them to guard sheep/goats from canine/coyote predators).

Ph

What is it with you and the camera?

Another day, the whole swarm escaped and flowed towards
both the donkeys, who cowered in the corner.
Another great photo op missed./STRONG>

My Airedale & Lab-mix won't even come into the barn
when the puppies are out of the stall. Danger! danger!

Ph

You're making my eyes crazy.

They are really active little puppies, and what is it with shoelaces?
I must get more shoes without, or learn to walk with dragging laces.

Ph

Ouch! Those teeth are sharp!

Pups eat their kibble but are very slow; they would rather play or sleep.
I've started keeping Mattie in a separate stall for a few hours
after each meal to give them more time to eat.
It takes a long time for their food to soften in hot water,
so I grind it up so it will mush faster and be easier to eat.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to crunch
15 pounds of kibble in a four-cup food processor?

Ph

Mattie is seeing an orthopedics specialist next week
to determine what our best options are for her leg.

Ph

Blue thinks agility might be in her future
