OFF TO SEE THE SURGEON!

26 SEPTEMBER 2011

Peggy writes:

We're off to SEE the Surgeon,
the wonderful Surgeon for eyes.
Riley has a heart, he has a brain,
but he's asking for his sight.
The wonderful Surgeon can give him that, so . . .
We're off to see the Surgeon,
the wonderful Surgeon for eyes.

Surgery is scheduled for 20 October . . . let's get his sight back.

BJ adds:

BTW, if we cannot raise enough money, Riley cannot have the surgery.
We have to have the money, so please, please help save this little guy's sight.
He is well worth it. He has so much life and so much energy.
As I said, he is a HOOT!

Peggy writes:

I am sitting here crying my eyes out; crying for joy for Riley
after seeing the amounts received for the raffle and for just donations.
Never in my wildest dreams did I expect such a turnout.
Then again, I should know that every person who has donated
- and will donate - has the biggest heart around
for all our rescues, be they Cairns or Airedales or any breed.
Riley is jumping for joy, literally; he jumps for joy
every time I greet him or call his name. I can't wait until
he has his sight back; no telling how high we will both jump.

On 27 September, BJ writes:

I got out of the movies last night and had a message from Peggy about the total so far. I started screaming, dancing, yelling; I got some weird looks, but I didn't care. Then I called Peggy back. She was crying, I was screaming and I couldn't sit still. So what; if everyone thinks I am a lunatic, I don't care. As Shell Lewis told me once, "You'd run naked through the streets for CRUSA to raise money".

In the meantime, I told Peggy, I knew we'd make it, but honestly, that's the estimated cost of his surgery. That doesn't include the money we have already spent for his diagnosis. And any money we make over that we'll just use for some of our other brats that need help! So, keep on buying them tickets ya'll . . . let's save our babies!!

It took me FOREVER to calm down.

I am sitting here amazed, but not amazed, cuz I knew it would raise the money we needed. CRUSA people, their friends, our friends, just about anybody who reads about our boy will donate.

Riley or RyeRye (what I call him when I tried to get him to follow my voice) is so worth this. Dr. Clark said that when Riley gets his sight back, he's going to be the best adoption ever. Dr. Clark thinks he's a great little guy and can't get over how high he jumps and how awesome he is.

I am telling people, heck no matter if we go over, it will be used for another. I was afraid that if we reached our goal people would stop purchasing tickets, but you know this quilt wall hanging is gorgeous and Riley is gonna get his sight and knowing this makes me smile so big, my jaws hurt and I just have tears in my eyes and then I grab one of my brats and just hug and hug. Again, they look at me like, Mom, what the heck?
