PHASE TWO
CATHY RIDES AGAIN

27 MAY 2012

41 MILES

Cathy writes:

Today was a bit cooler and less humid . . .
a much better day to venture out for a training ride.
It was 72 degrees when I pushed off
and 83 when I got home.

I rode the WO&D trail again.
There are pros & cons to trail riding.
One pro is if something happens,
there are usually people around to help,
especially on weekends. One con is
there are people you must watch out & slow down for.

My plan was to ride ~40 miles;
my turnaround point the DQ in Herndon.

It was an eventful ride.

Here is ROLLING THUNDER . . .

. . . and of group of people
I met at the eight-mile mark.

I continued on and came to a fair in Vienna,
just being set up when I arrived.
All bicyclists had to walk their bikes.

I pushed off; next stop DQ.
How disappointing
to find it was closed!
Really? On Sunday?
They could make a bundle
if they opened before noon
(they are missing the
after-church folks).

Oh well, I drank water
and ate my snack.
But I wanted a vanilla cone.

On the way back, the fair was in full "swing" . . .

. . . carnival rides, food, booths . . . .
I should have gotten my ice cream cone
(yes, that is my favorite food),
but I was hot and just wanted to get home.

I did meet this big bird,
who graciously had
its photo taken with me.

I am home now; 41 miles.
I am cooling off before
heading out to mow the yard.
My two dogs, Wojo & Harry,
took one whiff of me
and walked away.
