ROXY IN ILLINOIS

18 JULY & 15 AUGUST 2018

On 18 July, Shell Lewis writes to CRUSA Intakes:

Dog: Roxy - female, intact
Age: 16 years
From: OS to Kansas City shelter
Foster Home: Working on it. For the time being,
she's going to be staying with Cheryl Ashton from
WRMO [Westie Rescue Missouri] who is in the KC area.
I'd like to move her up here in a couple of weeks
and start her on a regimen for that lousy coat.
And then maybe with Keith Hembrey or if Andréa Denninger
is REALLY nice to me I might send her to Florida.

WRMO is going to vet her down there,
but for now I'm just going to do bloodwork and a urine culture.
Probably not a good time to be vaccinating her.

On 15 August, Shell writes:

HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO MOVE ONE LITTLE DOG
FROM KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS?

When terrier women are at the helm . . . not hard at all!

Just about a month ago,
we introduced you to Roxy,
a sad little 16-year-old Cairn
whose owner's son
unceremoniously dumped her
at a Kansas City shelter
when his mom passed away.

Many of you were shocked
that this sweet little senior
was discarded so senselessly.

Today, Roxy's future
is much brighter!

For the last month,
our Westie friend,
Sue Hon of Missouri,
has lovingly cared for little Roxy.
Meanwhile, American Airlines
flight attendant, JC Fields,
read of Roxy's plight and
offered her transport to Chicago
where a permanent foster home awaited.

Today that transport took place!

Below are all the fabulous women who stepped up
to assist Roxy on her journey. Thanks, too, to Kim White and
Cheryl Sanford Aston.
