SCOTTY GOES HOME

24 JULY 2009

Katie writes:

During my last week with Scotty I had a family emergency and needed to be away from home for a few days. My friend Crystal was nice enough to keep my dogs for me while I was away. And by the way, she was very sad to see him go to his new home as well. So while he was staying with them, she asked Scotty to pose for a picture and he agreed. I think he was bummed, though, that he had water and not a beer.

So on Friday evening at about 6 p.m.,
Scotty's new family came to pick him up . . .

Scotty

and boy, did they hit it off.

Scotty

MY DUCK! I STOLE THIS FROM SUGAREE FAIR & SQUARE!

They were in love with him right away and Scotty, . . .

Scotty

. . . being his charming self, showed them affection . . .

Scotty

. . . and offered up his belly for a few rubs, of course.

Scotty

OK. I likes you now; you can share my duck.

They brought along their dog Ben
(Scotty's new brother)
so they could meet.
It was very uneventful.

Scotty

They went for a short walk down the street and back;
then we gathered up the rest of Scotty's belongings.
I was sad to see him go, but I swear he didn't even
look back at Sugaree & me, but rather was excited to
run along on his next great adventure.

Scotty

I have no doubts he will adapt well and quickly as he did
when he arrived at my home. Joan & Jerry promised
to send along pictures soon as well.

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
