Well, I was right. I needed someone to go with me on the pickup.

Fortunately, Andréa offered to come, so I drove to

Palm Harbor to pick up Andréa, who had a crate and

a box of leashes & harnesses, plus a map.

Off we went on a route that I've never driven before.

As we neared the Sunshine Skyway Bridge,

I informed Andréa that I had a phobia about driving

over tall bridges and would lie on the back seat floorboards

whenever I'd been over this one before.

She offered to drive [several times, as I had visions of Pat

crawling into the back seat at the middle of the bridge],

but I persisted and faced my fear.

It didn't hurt that she talked to me the whole time

and I didn't realize we were over the bridge until we were.

[I said, "You did it!" Pat replied, "Did we go over it already?"]

[Pat's fear of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge comes from

the May 1980 accident when a freighter rammed into one of the supports,

collapsing part of the bridge and killing 30 people . . . .]

We arrived at SEGD [SouthEastern Guide Dogs],

finally figured out how to drive up to the veterinary clinic

[lots of construction], and found locked doors.

I went in search of someone to help;

Andréa was standing by the door when Kim opened it for her.

[I had no idea where Pat had gone, and when I called her phone,

I remembered she'd left it in her purse. Which was in the car.

This is truly the story of "Laurel & Hardy Transport A Cairn"]

How trusting is this? Shelby immediately rolled over for tummy skritches from Pat

Kim said that Shelby was great with big dogs.

(Notice no mention of little dogs.) Likes: squeakie toys,

sleeping on bed or couch, cuddles, walks & car rides.

Dislikes: trucks, busses, traffic, air brakes and flying in airplanes.

Shelby has bad teeth, perhaps tonsillitis and trachea issues.

[Her breath could fell an ox.]

But, oh, that girl is a sweetie.
