NOW PLAYING: ONE PARTICULAR HARBOR, Jimmy Buffett
(INSTRUMENTAL VERSION)
But there's this one particular harbor
Sheltered from the wind
Where the DOGGIES play on the shore each day
And all are safe within.

SHELBY COMES NORTH TO PALM HARBOR

2 MARCH 2018

Intro to SweeTea
didn't go well.
SweeTea had to do her
growling which set Shelby off;
I think Shelby saw SweeTea
as a weird squirrel
[albeit one wearing collar,
harness, bandana & diapers]
,
and went after her.
[Shelby has a high prey drive]

SweeTea hid behind my head on the back of the couch,
and then hid under Andréa's bed pillows the rest of the afternoon.

Rico was great with her, Heather stayed away,
Daisy let her know she wasn't welcome and
Bonny didn't like her. Shelby is rambunctious;
she has claimed [toy] Lambchop as her own and
runs around the house with it.

She is a barker, but she is a cutie patootie!

Andréa continues:

Luckily, we still have water spray bottles scattered throughout the house.
There were some confrontations, but no blood was drawn.

This introduction was unusual in that Rico, Daisy, Heather & Bonny
were at the groomer, so only SweeTea was in the house when we came home,
and all of Shelby's attention was focused on her.

So I left to pick up the Quartet, and this happened . . .

. . . Shelby stared through the slider to the front door,
to see where FosterMom had disappeared to.

Looks like Florida living
suits CairnDaddy,
doesn't it?

3 MARCH:

So far, Shelby has eaten a dinner with pumpkin,
and breakfast with pumpkin and Fortiflora; both meals
were taken in another room. Tonight's dinner was
enjoyed in the company of the others, without any issues.
Shelby is learning to use the doggie door; she slept the night in the crate,
altho she, SweeTea & Bonny all shared my bed for a nap today.

Ph

It was cool and dry enough to open all the sliders;
Shelby likes to lie by my bedroom sliders and catch some rays.

SweeTea is no longer hiding in my bedroom,
but she avoids Shelby as much as she can, as does Heather.
Tonight, she started her Clavamox with her dinner,
and she will spend one more night sleeping in the crate
before we try leaving her out and about all night long.

Ph

And of course she has a bandana to match her collar, harness, lead & records binder

Her biggest issue at this time is BARKING. Of course,
every noise she hears is new to her and MUST be responded to,
whether it's the neighbor's dog, car doors slamming,
another neighbor's dog, people talking, music on the stereo,
ANOTHER neighbor's dog, bamboo rattling, hawks screaming, crows cawing . . .
every noise induces a spate of BARKING; we have to refill our
water spray bottles tomorrow. We's hoping this need to BARK
subsides soon, as all the other dogs want to BARK at her BARKING at noises.

We have taken to calling her SHELLY; it just is faster to say
and rolls off the tongue more easily than SHELBY,
altho we are NOT changing her name.
SHE doesn't care what you call her, so long as you call her for dinner!

Her wellness exam is scheduled for Tuesday, 6 March,
so we can get her dental scheduled and take care of any other
health issues she may have; then Shelby will be ready for her Forever Home.
