TALLI WRITES A LETTER

MARCH 2010

Talli's first day at home, 26 January 2010

Talli writes:

I am Talli (Sissie) and I have been with my forever family for almost a month. I was with my foster family for several months and they loved me and took such good care of me to get me ready to find a forever family. I was so lucky to spend time with them until I found my new family.

My forever family has been so fun. I have two dog sisters to play with, and boy, do we play! My sister Izy is a BRAT (Boston terrier/RAT terrier mix). She & I wrestle, chase, and play tug of war with our bones or ropes. We growl and sound ferocious and really wear each other out.

I'll help you carry this up the steps, Izy.

My other sister Sadie is little. She is a Papillion/Chihuahua mix and really is a purse-type of dog. She doesn't like to play much and is such a Diva.

Izy & I sleep with my human sister, Erinoel. It is really cool. Izy likes to sleep under the covers by Erin's legs and I like to sleep snuggled up to Erin on top of the covers. I really am treated like a princess.

The Girls, 4 February

My new dad named me Talli (for Talladega Super Speedway) because Izy & I like to chase each other around & around & around. When they took me to the pet store to get a harness for going on walks, dad picked out a collar, leash & harness with racing flames on them for his favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. I have a huge back yard to run & run & play in. We have a lot of snow on the ground and I really like to play out there. I even bark at the deer in the woods by the back fence.

My new mom loves & kisses on me like my foster mom Donna did. It makes me feel loved & special. She tells me how cute & smart I am. I like to curl up on her lap or next to her because she makes me feel loved. I am a lucky little girl and can't wait for the weather to get better so that I can go on walks. Mom says I am her shadow and she's right; I tend to be where my mom is and even under her feet.

I am very grateful to CRUSA for saving me and for so much love from my foster family and new forever family. Thank you, everyone, for caring.

HER NEW FAMILY IS AWESOME!
SHE HAS A WONDERFUL HOME,
AND THEY EVEN LET ME VISIT!

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed,
All nicely tucked in my warm new bed.
I'd like to open my baggage
Lest I forget,
There is so much to carry -
So much to regret.

Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top -
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss,
And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame.
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave -
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.

I loved them, the others, the ones who left me,
But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things
And take me right back?

Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage,
To never re-pack?
I pray that you do - I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage -
Will you still want me?
