WHALE SHARKS!

7 AUGUST Early in the morning: Heading out early today. Maybe the whale shark area will open. Later in the day: SUCCESS! Two mantas and a whale shark. At long last got to swim with the shark about five times. Pictures not so great as we were so close there was not time enough for the camera to focus as the whale shark swam by. Tried to take a video with the same result. HOPE FOR MORE TOMORROW. We're heading out very early tomorrow morning, skipping breakfast in order to be out on the water earlier. Dinner with the whole team . . . 8 AUGUST GREAT DAY! Whale sharks (many) and mantas (MANY of TWO SPECIES) Sadly most of my manta photos are fuzzy. But here are some much better whale shark photos. As I said, I swam next to reef mantas and great mantas, but the photographs did not meet my satisfaction. Maybe better images tomorrow, our last day. We will be leaving the dock later and returning a little later in the afternoon; hopefully this will leave us alone with some sharks and rays, as the "commercial" boats have to head in before our charter does.
