TALON & TESSA GO HOME!

30 OCTOBER & 5 NOVEMBER 2011

Shell writes:

It's been a busy ten days for the Midwest team, with a number of our Cairns moving on to their forever homes. Those of us who regularly work rescue know that it takes a village to make every single adoption happen. Here are some of our recent placements and the hardworking volunteers who made it happen . . .

Going home was little Talon, a 17-week old pup who came from a Missouri breeder. Talon went to live with Tracy & Flor Hasselbring & their three children of Illinois (see family picture below). The Hasselbrings recently lost their beloved Cairn, Basil; Talon is sure to bring some much- needed sunshine into this family's life. Helping to bring the new family together was Shannon Radosevich of Wisconsin of our reference team & Judy Domm of Illinois (our ambassador in the far north 'burbs) who conducted the home visit. First-time foster parents, Karen & Randy Hradek of Illinois did a phenomenal job of fostering Talon & his sister, Tessa, and were so delightful to work with!

Speaking of Tessa . . .

Just last weekend, Tessa (now called Pippa) went to live with Ann & Jim Hamrick of Illinois. Like the Hasselbrings, the Hamricks had also recently lost a senior Cairn, but Pippa is bringing much joy (and a bit of destruction) into their lives. Tomorrow, she begins obedience classes at Capitol Canine in Springfield and we look forward to hearing about her progress. Helping to make this adoption happen were Mary Whitledge of the reference team & my friend, Holly Crotty, who conducted the family's home visit. Puppy Pippa is pictured below with her parents.

Other CRUSA volunteers I'd like to acknowledge . . .

Donna Venegas, our gal in Nebraska,
was instrumental in getting most of the above dogs out of neglectful & abusive situations. Without her involvement & persistence, Ellie, Talon, Tessa & Tigger would not have such bright futures. Our Intakes Manager, Gayle Kiesow of Illinois continues to amaze me with her uncanny knack for finding foster homes where there seemingly are none . . . and Amie Conley is a whiz at pulling together transports at a moment's notice and making it all look so easy!

Thanks to everyone and congratulations to our new families!

In July 2012, Tessa was joined by CRUSA Rescue Jack.
