TEDDIE GOES TO THE VET
26 AUGUST 2016

Teddie did well last night . . . no accidents or problems.
Preferred my bed to the one provided for him,

I have a vet appointment this afternoon . . . check that eye,
He was wheezing some last night, and again this morning . . .
hopefully allergy-related. He's been scooting a little bit,
so we'll check those anal glands too.

Grooming tomorrow;
I thought I would have them leave his coat on the longish side,
as he's cute with at that fringe.

Ph

Teddie had a complete
screening at the vet today.
Not all results are available
at this time, pending results
from lab work.
The little growth on his lower
eyelid is of no concern at this time;
recommended that if it grows
or actually starts to touch
his eyeball it should be
re-examined for
treatment, possibly removal.

Other issues to watch:
enlarged heart, heart murmer and trachea problem
(the cause of the wheezing I mentioned).
I noted that Teddie didn't seem as energetic as I expected
for a one- two two-year old dog. He sleeps a lot for a younger dog.
The cause (the vet said) is related to the heart issues.

I would definitely recommend that Teddie not be adopted
by a family with small children.
I would be afraid that kids would try to get him to play too hard,
a definite thing to avoid for Teddie.
They said that he could still live a very long life, with certain cautions.
Nothing treatable at this time . . . just watch him.

The collapsed trachea is something he was born with . . . no treatment . . .
avoid smoke, perfumes, cleaning chemicals that would irritate his throat.
He should only wear a harness, no collar.

Ph

He will go to the groomer tomorrow. He weighs 16 pounds,
not 12 as was stated on his shelter paperwork.
Losing a little weight will give a little relief from the heart issues.

I would be very surprised
if Teddie isn't adopted soon.
He is just such a sweet little guy;
I have not heard him bark once!

He had once little accident
the first day he arrived,
but that was because I didn't
stay outside with him long enough.
Not a single problem since then.

He loves to go for a walk
and ride in the car,
but needs a restraint,
as he seems to like sitting on
the driver's lap,
a definite no-no.

Jackie had said he was very unhappy in the crate when she brought him here
and I haven't had any reason to even set up the crate since!

Ph

The groomers said he did wonderfully while there.

PEGGY NALLEY:
He is too stinkin' cute! Love the hair cut. My cat has had a heart murmur since birth and they wanted to put him on heart meds 15 years ago and I said no. We will just wait and see. Well, he is 17 now and still has the heart murmur and he is doing just fine. Oh, and his heart is a little enlarged, but nothing has changed in the 17 years we have had him. Of course being a cat, he sleeps most of the day like any typical cat.
