NOW PLAYING: STAR TREK, NEXT GENERATION A

The

Bob Anim Jon

Bob is a really sweet boy that is an owner surrender. He has Addison's disease and is possibly diabetic. He came with medication and is going to need an injection on 5 July. I have never done it before, but the owner walked me through the basic steps. Just a little nervous!

The

His owners took him to be groomed. Apparently the groomer thought he should look like a Scottie. They shaved his back, but left the rest of his hair long.

We're excited & happy that we are in a position to provide a temporary home for these sweeties.

2 July 2007

The

Raizel, Jon & Bob, checking out the back yard early in the a.m.

Bobby was diagnosed with Addison's disease late last year; he also recently developed a peeing problem. His owners aren't sure why, but he started having problems suddenly. I think that was the last straw for them. They told me several times that they just couldn't have him peeing in the house because they have a new baby. Their vet suggested to them that he might be diabetic, but they didn't want to spend any more money on him. His owners mentioned that he started having problems back when the pet food recall stuff happened, but they haven't had his kidneys checked. They inquired about adopting a healthy dog, so I think they just didn't want to deal with him anymore.

The

Bob enjoyed his breakfast!

His peeing is definitely not a housebreaking issue. He just loses control of his bladder. Only when he's excited or is being praised, though. I would swear that he's just a submissive pee-er, but I've never heard of submissive peeing starting out of the blue like his owners claim happened. I have always been under the impression that it's something they begin as puppies.

The

Bob

He wears a belly band with no problems whatsoever, though, and we've been able to make adjustments so as to not get peed on. He is just absolutely the sweetest, most well-behaved thing. I can not believe his owners gave up on him. He gets percorten shots every 25 days for the Addison's disease.

The

He wears his belly-band with no protest. He is a really good boy.
