Tin Man on Adoption Day

Tracie writes:

Tin Man went to his forever home on Saturday, December 6, 2008.
John Castaldi & Betsi Greene are his new parents.
They are really nice people who live in New Hampshire, and winter in Florida.
They met me in Atlanta to pick him up.
I am really happy that he's found a forever home,
but it sure was an emotional day . . . I know it's best,
but he has taken a big part of my heart with him!
They assured me he would be fine,
and promised to keep me updated with pictures, etc.

The First Meeting

Tin Man rode back to Florida in the back of the car and did well.
He didn't really want to get out of his new "safe place"
to use the bathroom, but he did,
and got back into the car and slept the rest of the way.
When they got home,
he did run up to the steps and wait for them to open the door,
but wasn't too sure what to do, so he lay down by the bed
and slept 'til they woke him up to go out before bedtime.

He is apparently settling in well -
see the picture where he's taken
over John's chair already!
and Betsi writes: He loves being outside,
but it's hard to get him outside -
this morning was a little easier,
and he seems to be getting the message
that perhaps a leash and the word "out"
have some connection!
He did drink a little water last night,
but still hasn't eaten anything
except Beggin' Strips,
but I figure when he gets ready, he'll eat!

On Monday, December 8, Betsi writes:

I did get him to sit today for a treat,
although I'm sure he
didn't know he was responding
to the command -
he was just reaching for the treat!
(Tracie: I can attest to that . . .
any food that was coming his way,
he'd sit for it!)

And finally,
on Monday afternoon,
Betsi writes:

We went for a longer walk today
and he got up and came with me
once I put the leash on.
He just trundles along and
doesn't seem very
startled at things -
he went right up to a man
we met while walking
and let him pet him.

Tracie: So, all in all,
it seems like he is
settling in pretty well.
I sure am gonna miss
that sweet face!
