GRACIE

Truman Truman

Colleen writes:

Gracie had her spay surgery on Monday, 1 April;
the vet felt that she had probably had puppies some time in the
past eight weeks from the condition of her mammaries & her uterus.
The spay was not an easy procedure;
by the time I picked her up from HAWS,
she had developed a nasty UTI in addition to another infection in her abdomen.

I dropped her off at Kevin & Claudia's house,
but I noticed her discomfort and need to urinate,
so I ran home and got her some antibiotics right away.

Her condition worsened,
so Kevin took her to his vet the next day where they discovered
the infection and put her on new antibiotics & anti-nausea medication.

Kevin & Claudia had to leave town for a few days,
so I took her back to give her some bed rest in a playpen in my kitchen.
Her UTI was so bad,
she tried several times an hour to go to the bathroom,
so I just put piddle pads down and made sure
she took her medicine (she was not eating at this point).

By the time Kevin & Claudia returned on Saturday afternoon,
she was much spunkier and showed her sweet & loving personality for them.
Since then I've received several texts from Kevin
stating fantastic progress such as, "She is eating,
we are crushing her pills in her food, she follows me wherever I go,
she is lying between Claudia & me on her back
with all four feet in the air."

Gracie is very small
(like a bunny rabbit),
but very sweet & loving;
she has taken to Kevin in particular.
She is going to make
someone a great companion.
