THE DECISION & THE PROPOSAL

On Saturday, 6 March 2004, as I was ironing bandanas for the 2004 Filled with Love For Senior Airedales Fundraiser, VetteMan, who was doing his taxes, said to me, "If we were to get married, would you prefer to have a Corvette or a diamond ring?" After a moment's thought, I said, "A diamond ring . . . but it's a moot point, as you haven't asked me to marry you."

He then asked me to marry him, and with less-than-a-second's thought, I said, "Yes."

Cathy

So as you already know if you're reading this page, VetteMan& I are getting married on 22 May 2004, after having lived together for 22 years.

Cathy

Because VetteMan always has been, and I have become, an ardent Jimmy Buffett fan, and because we hope to move to somewhere in the tropics after we retire, the theme of our wedding gradually became Key West Casual; parrots are playing a large part in the decorations (no real parrots, however, although we were tempted).

In fact, we attempted to get tickets for the entire wedding party to the 10 July JB concert in our area, but even though we got in line early, our lottery ticket number was last; by the time we got up to the counter, all the pavillion seats had been sold.

MEMBERS OF THE WEDDING PARTY

Nancy

MATRON OF HONOUR
Nancy Kaye

Nancy was an English teacher and we have worked together at Reuther Central High School since 1983; we instantly became friends and have remained so even during her past year of retirement.

Bob, whom many of you know as BobMyBoss and who has created several portraits of Misha and the ATUR logo , has been Librarian at Reuther Central High School since 1974; he hired me as his Library Secretary in August 1975.

Bob

BEST MAN
Robert Anderson

We've worked together ever since and become best of friends. In 1980, the two of us hired VetteMan as Reuther's A-V Director, and they have become good friends also.

Cathy

Actually, as a Bride of age 55, I feel more like this . . .

Cathy

. . . and MATRON OF HONOUR Nancy
probably does NOT want to do this . . .

Cathy

. . . and I certainly NEVER wanted this . . .

Cathy

. . . so we are going for the "Key West Casual" look instead. Here are shirts that the members of the wedding party may be wearing; in addition to the BRIDE, GROOM, MATRON OF HONOUR & BEST MAN, the wedding party will include RING BEARERS Cari & Rico Denninger-Skrenes & DOG HANDLER Chuck Rusk.

Parrot

I can just hear you thinking,
"'DOG HANDLER'? What the heck is a 'DOG HANDLER'?"

Cathy

Dog

I had originally wanted Cari & Rico to wear these outfits and play the part of Miniature Bride & Groom / Ringbearers.

Luckily, I quickly came to my senses and decided that one of these leis around their tummies (covering Rico's belly band) and a parrot-design bandana would be better ideas.

We will somehow attach the ring boxes to the leis or the bandanas. Chuck consented to take responsibility for walking in the procession with Cari & Rico, and then seeing they are safely taken home after the ceremony. So he is the DOG HANDLER.

Chuck & I became acquainted a few years ago when we were both on the same Airedale Internet Discussion List, and discovered that we live only about a mile apart. Because he has had experience with dogs of varying sizes & temperaments, we feel comfortable trusting him with what are, in effect, two of our kids.

Several people have asked, "What about April?" Unfortunately, April is almost blind, cannot hear very well, and crowds make her very nervous. So her job will be to protect the house while we're having our party.
