OF WISCONSIN

26 APRIL 2017

On 23 April, I received an email from Shannon A.,
receptionist at Kenosha Animal Hospital,
where my family's dogs have been clients since 1960:

I'm reaching out to you to see who I need to contact about
finding a home for a 6 year old male Cairn Terrier
(not sure if he is neutered or not).
One of my coworker's grandfather owns two dogs -
the Cairn Terrier and a 3-4 year old Blue Heeler mix -
both dogs are apparently kept in cages in his basement
and are only let out to eat and go potty.
She just informed me that her father talked the grandfather into
surrendering the dogs as this is no kind of life for them.

I don't know much more about him at this point,
but will hopefully have more information by the end of the day
and am trying to get a picture of him as well.

Thank you for any guidance you can give me.

Of course, I immediately called her (the phone number is imprinted on my brain)
and told her I would contact Shell Lewis, Midwest Placement Director,
to make arrangements to have this dog taken in to CRUSA,
if the photos show that he is, in fact, a Cairn Terrier.

I called Shell about this dog and told her that CairnDaddy was in Kenosha
and could probably help with pickup, Bed & Breakfasting
and transport, if needed.

On 25 April, Shell writes:

So. . . . I had a call from
Shannon A. this evening.
Amanda, one of the other gals
at the office, met the dog
(didn't even get his name;
bad me!); he's intact,
filthy, matted, you name it.

BUT . . . he's sweet & friendly.
Amanda is going to text me
some pics later tonight
and then we'll make
arrangements to get the dog.
We will be dealing directly
with the elderly gentleman
who owns the dog (not the clinic).
Let me see where he lives
and then we'll figure out
who should get him and when.

My original plan was to get him
to Shannon & Joe Radosevich
until I got home from Missouri
and THEN move him down
to Lisa in NW Indiana.
But . . . there is a potential adopter
in New Berlin [which is close by
Shannon & Joe]
.

They adopted Tavish years ago
and he recently passed;
they want to adopt another
middle-aged male.
I would love to give them
an opportunity to meet
this guy and possibly FTA.

So that's where we're at. As soon as I know more
I'll let you know what I know!

As it stands now, on the afternoon of 26 April,
CairnDaddy will be picking up The Wolf Man tonight
and bringing him directly to Shannon & Joe R.
They will have him groomed and vetted; he will then possibly
be moved to New Berlin for fostering.

GOOD JOB, EVERYONE. THANK YOU, SHANNON A.,
AMANDA, NEAL, SHELL, SHANNON & JOE R.!

CairnDaddy has promised to take pics,
so stop back later tonight and/or tomorrow.

Awwww, he is so cute! Hope I never get that way, where I can't care for my dogs and won't give them up. Thanks for saving him, Andréa, and Neal for helping too. Hope his FTA will work out.
