ANGEL AT HOME

3-6 JUNE 2018

On 3 June, Peggy writes:

Ms Angel has drawn boundaries for Mr. JB.
He sneaks around her, so I have pack-making to do.
And she is pretty vocal. We are working on that, too.
When we got home, Angel had a great BM and waited to pee on the grass.
We had a little nap on the sofa, too!

I ignored her demand for dinner and asked her to lie down.
After she quit barking for a while I fed them.
Wasn't sure about timing and our lives require some flexibility.
She is good about napping with you.

Jackie writes:

It sounds like a great start to me, Peggy.
You know what you are doing and can make it work!
So glad you have accepted her into your life!

BJ writes:

BJ: Yippee! Thanks to everyone!

Andréa Brown writes:

I love Westies! We have one, and are
considering a second. Meet Westin.

On 4 June, Peggy writes:

Angel did well yesterday. She got lots of love.
She slept all night. Her poop looks good.

And this morning Angel met the beach - we walked thru
a few tidal pools, but not sure that is her passion yet.
Because of her limited vision, we have to go slowly.
She had more love this morning from neighbors.
And she snarfs up her food - we add shredded chicken
and a little chicken juice with ginger to her food.
She will bring lots of happiness.

I laughed about the bag of treats with a Westie on the packaging! very sweet.

Patricia writes:

Angel looks like she is settling in quite nicely.
Jelly Bean is a cutie! I think they'll be buddies
once she is comfortable. Thank you, Peggy,
for opening your heart to our little Angel.

On 5 June, Peggy writes:

We are learning each other. She is trying to be alpha,
and JB just steers clear of her.
I would have guessed her past life was as an only dog.

She sleeps well.
She walks well.
She lets people love her.
But she is smart enough to work through any issue.
Integration into our pack is a full-time job!

Learning to stay . . .

Ph

She does better . . .

Ph

I laid a new towel in the kitchen for her, but JB likes to share.

Patricia:

May I come stay with you? I promise I'll be obedient and stay on my towel!

BJ:

Lol, I want to come, too, then!

Ph

Peggy:

We are learning when
there is lots of love time
and when Mom has to work.
Oh yes, that! work!

Practicing sit & stay -
she is learning . . .
treats help!

Practicing relaxing.
So cute!
Transition takes
a little effort,
but is well worth it.
Barking is diminishing
this morning as we relax.

Ph

We do have pee breaks about every hour just to ensure
I don't miss her bark about needing to go outside.

Angel is a live wire; she is very competitive and
likes the smaller orange squeaky toys . . .

Ph

. . . she has made herself right at home.

Ph

Ok, so I really do like Jellybean . . .

Ph

. . . I just tuck myself up next to him.

Jackie:

She is a beauty . . . and what fun she is having.

Peggy:

I told Andréa that Angel was probably in an one-dog home.
She doesn't think she is a dog and JB is a dog. ha!

She snaps at him when he gets too close,
but today he was in the big leather chair
and she chose to back up next to him.
So, it will be just a matter of time.

We're working on relaxing.

Patricia:

Isn't that adorable! Looks like she's
decided she's right at home with her new friend.
I love it when a rescue realizes s/he has found a safe, loving home.
Jelly Bean must be special.

I thinks she's going to do very well in a two-dog home.
She already looks more relaxed and is playing.
JB will win her heart.

On 6 June, Peggy writes:

Angel is making herself quite comfortable and is doing well.

I have found if I ignore the sharp barking and whining,
she gives up on me and goes to lie down.
Right now, lying down involves the sofa where Mr. Jellybean lives.

Ph

And more tidal pools in which to play . . .

Ph

. . . but Angel is not real sure, yet, about water.
