WHERE'S POGO?

13 JULY 2009

After spending an entire morning poking their noses
between the deckboards up the steps leading to the upper deck
(which again has that odeur de skunk), Daisy & Cari's
attention shifted to the steps leading from the lower deck
to the living room patio door.

I shone (shined?) a flashlight
between the boards and sure enough,
there was the little guy, fast asleep,
in the smallest space possible.

Pogo Possum is sleeping under this board,
between the maple seed
and the other visible detritus.

They spent the rest of the day waiting for him to come out;
their noses were getting pointy from snuffling in between the deckboards.

Hunting is such hard work!

Come out or I'll drool on ya!

I'm gonna have a stroke from all this panting!

Pogo Possum must've gotten tired of all this noise and
the snool dripping on him, 'cause by the time I had the idea
for Neal to hold the flashlight while I took a picture,
he'd moved to quieter (and drier) climes . . .
probably with the skunk under the other steps.
Ain't nature grand?!

If I have to HUNT it, I don't WANT it!
