TWO GOLDEN GIRLS IN ILLINOIS 5 JUNE 2010
Gayle Kiesow writes: During the first week of June, the Midwest CRUSA teams brought in six new Cairns and moved two from one home to another. This is the story of two Golden Girls, Sashen & Shade.
Ten-year-old Sashen [right] and ten-year-old Shade [below] were adopted in April 2006 by a family in the south Chicago area, who returned them to the Humane Society in May 2010. Their reason: "Too many dogs". The shelter had them on its PTS [Put-To-Sleep] list due to over- crowding and the fact that they were bonded together; the chance of adopting out either of them was slim to none, much less the two of them together.	Sashen was born on 27 February 2000
Shade was born on 4 April 2000	These two are the biggest Cairns I have ever seen, and are absolutely wonderful. It will be interesting to see what they weigh at their wellness exam with Dr. Johnson this week. There might be a contest between them and Shannon & Joe Radosevich's Kip [who was also part of this Rescue Mission, and whose story can be read HERE] & Georgie Porgie [whose story can be read HERE]. They are peppy, friendly, happy little girls and they have thanked CRUSA for saving them.
CRUSA thanks to Beth Spitzer & Holly Crotty, who transported "Golden Girls" from Chicago to FosterParents Gayle & Bob Kiesow, bringing their count to five Cairns & one yellow lab. We don't yet know if they are spayed, nor the condition of their teeth, so we assume there will be some expense involved to rehabilitate the GOLDEN GIRLS. They two are totally sweet; I'm not sure about their being housebroken; kind of 1/2 and 1/2, I think. They are so heavy to lift, almost impossible for me. Their collars were awful and of course, I had no harness size large enough in my supply. I did find a couple of collars that work until I can get to WalMart. At least they are bathed and don't stink for the time being.
