Leah is a six-year-young terrier/doxie mix surrendered to a shelter by owners who had severely neglected her. According to her owners, when about three years old, she jumped off a bed and has not been able to walk since then. For the next three years SHE LIVED IN A PLASTIC TUB (as seen in the video), sitting in her own urine and feces.
Leah has a skin infection on the inside of her back legs from sitting in urine and a large sore on her back that was left untreated by her owners. Yet despite the fact that she has suffered at the hands of the people who were charged to take care of her, she is a sweet, loving girl who readily gives kisses, loves receiving affection and welcomes the attention of other dogs. And while she may not have use of her back legs, this video shows that she manages pretty well with her front end! Of course, a cart would make her life even better.
Leah has no bladder or bowel control. She would require an owner who could commit to keeping her clean and showering her with love. As she is only three years old, this would be a long and serious commitment. If Leah is lucky enough to find a new home, transportation will be provided. She will go to her new home up-to-date on all required vaccinations. We know how much attention and hygiene care Leah will require (and I know how much work - and how rewarding - this can be, having had Daisy2Legs in our lives for 14 years), AND AS OF SATURDAY AFTERNOON, SHE HAS A HOME!
