NOW PLAYING: REUNITED
(INSTRUMENTAL VERSION)

TWO BROTHERS, REUNITED

BUCKO!

Ph

He went up the steps at the kennel quite well today,
so that's another 'step up' in his life.

Ph

There was a lot of snuffling & tail-wagging when the two, whom we suspect are brothers, were reunited.

Ph

I feel better now that I'm not alone.

And here is where the story takes
an unexpected turn . . . literally . . . .

After we leave the vet, Neal & I realize we need to make a stop . . . and maybe get something to eat . . . so we pull in to a McDonald's. One we've never been in. In fact, we rarely eat inside McD's, but today, something just drew us in (the free coupons we had might have influenced that decision a bit).

As we wait for our orders, my phone rings. A voice says, My name is Susan . . . Safe Harbor Humane Society gave me your name because you know something about the Airedales that have been advertised in the paper for $50.

(Bosco, who is from this same BYB, came to us via SHHS; his story is HERE)

At this point, I decide to sit down at a booth, rather than eat in the car as we'd planned. Multi-tasking in a moving car is NOT a good idea.

Yes, I reply, we have two in the car right now; we're transporting them to Fond du Lac.

Thank goodness they're ok, then. I wanted to get one, but didn't know what they were like.

We continued in that vein for a bit of time, and ultimately decided that, since Susan lived in Racine, right on the way to Fond du Lac, we would stop so she could meet Griff & Bucko.

I called Paula to tell her we'd be later than planned, and realized I could do a Home Visit right then and there, just in case Susan DID decide to adopt from ATRA. How is THAT for fortuitous planning, without actually planning?

So we finished our lunch, drove to Racine, did a home visit during which I completely forgot to take pictures, had Bucko meet Bob the Soft-Coated Wheaton and Chris (I think) the Westie. Bob & Bucko played a bit in the BEAUTIFUL AND HUGE back yard, although I didn't dare let Bucko off the lead, as I knew we'd never catch him.

He pulled out anyway, and promptly pooped on the lawn, thereby laying claim to it; I was able to put his collar back on while he was pooping, with no protest from him.

We said our goodbyes; Susan promised to go to the ATRA site to fill out an application, and we were on our way. Again. And again marvelling how convoluted this entire rescue mission had become, hoping it would turn out okay in the end for these two lovely BoyDales.

Ph

Griff stayed here during the entire ride.
