On 25 January, Gayle Kiesow writes:

All I know about Toto is that he came to local shelter from another shelter about 60 miles from here (Pekin, Illinois), not sure why and not sure if stray or surrender. A gal adopted him from local shelter late October and returned him late December saying he "nipped" her and she didn't want him any more. Several days later, the neighbor of the owner called the shelter to inquire about him, asking if she had surrendered him as a biter. The neighbor states totally untrue, that she had spent enough time with Toto to know the "nip" would have been brought on by improper handling.

Due to the circumstances, the shelter contacted Dr Johnson because they knew CRUSA was in the area, but had misplaced my contact information. They felt it would be better that Toto go to an experienced terrier home where he would be understood in case any more issues would come up with him.

Goodbye, TAPS Shelter!

Bob & I spent an hour and a half with Toto at the shelter last Sunday. Due to his size and the width of his head, we thought he may have some Scottie in him. He was delighted to get out of his cage and was very playful with us; had no issues with Bob removing a Kong from his mouth; liked being petted & held. Thought he would make someone a great pet. UTD, neutered, beautiful teeth, housebroken and very friendly.

On 29 January:

We picked up Toto today from the TAPS Shelter in Pekin, and he traveled with us about an hour to meet Jim & Geri Shurts who drove the Peoria to Waynesville transport today for THE MISSOURI SIX-PACK.
