TRUMAN GOES HOME! 7 JULY 2013
Shell Lewis writes: Truman came into CRUSA by way of a kennel closing in Wisconsin; from the beginning, he was a force to be reckoned with. Colleen Swartz of Wisconsin, who is always ready to pitch in and help, initially fostered this handsome boy, but as an ex-stud, Truman proved confrontational with other male dogs and it was evident that he would do best in a one-dog household.
Enter first-time-foster Deanna Becker of Illinois, who rose to the challenge like an old pro. Deanna slowly acclimated Truman to the sights & sounds of the big city; he even became a regular at the local dog park.
Within a couple weeks of going online, Truman caught the attention of Michael Ickes of Ohio, who wasn't the least bit deterred by an 800-mile drive. Deanna had Truman groomed and he looked awesome! Michael drove to Lansing, Illinois from Ohio yesterday; he stayed there overnight and I told him we'd meet him to shave a couple of hours off his commute. This morning, we met Michael; Truman is now on his way back to Ohio. Mary Whitledge worked this application; Sherri of SECOND CHANCE FOR ANIMALS in Ohio conducted the home visit. MY BAGGAGE Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, All nicely tucked in my warm new bed. I'd like to open my baggage Lest I forget, There is so much to carry - So much to regret. Hmm . . . Yes there it is, right on the top - Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hide Fear and Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave - I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain. I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, But I wasn't good enough - for they didn't want me. Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you just look at my things And take me right back? Do you have the time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, To never re-pack?
